Aurora Wings Challenge #55 -- The Elements

When I first saw Mitzi's Siren digi I knew I had to have her. I coloured her immediately, then stuck her in my ok, so now what do I do with this? pile (I have a BIG pile too). The challenge on the Aurora Wings website, Challenge #55 The Elements, was a perfect opportunity to use her, plus it doesn't hurt that I can also use it in their Facebook challenge as well. The FB challenge has a sketch to follow, which is awesome, as my brain doesn't have to come up with a design.

Since I coloured her so long ago, I've forgotten the colours I used. All I remember is that I used my Copic markers, and added some Stickle Pearls for her necklace and headpiece. So now that I have a sketch to follow, I used my Spellbinders Grand Circles to cut her out. I found that the next size up in the dies was too big for the mat, so I pulled out my Silhouette and created circles that gave me a smaller mat size. I found some purple 6x6 papers in my stash, cutting them in smaller Spellbinder circles, and my Silhouette for their mattings. I had this dark blue paper, which seemed perfect for the background.

Next, I found some brown ribbons that matched closely to the starfish in her hair. I remembered I had some shells and starfish in my stash for embellishments and added some pearls in the corners. I have stickers for all the Atlantic Provinces, so I found one I liked: Nova Scotia Canada's Ocean Playground, which is perfect, as that is the motto on our license plates!

Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!

This is a lovely project, Jody! You've colored the Siren image so beautifully utilizing the full range of values from light to dark. I love your interpretation of the sketch from the AW FB group contest, too. Gorgeous all around! Thank you for joining our Elements challenge at Aurora Wings. Mitzi xx
This is really gorgeous, Jody! Sort of a haunting feel with a dark blue base that I totally love. Fabulous job with both the sketch and blog challenge. Thanks so much for joining us at Aurora Wings. xxD
